De-stemming

"   Tonya,   when my wife makes elderberry syrup, she places about a quart of de-stemmed elderberries in a sturdy bowl then presses, (there by crushes) them with a wooden mallet.  Next she adds sugar to the crushed elderberries…"

"Michele, Please, do not eat any berry that you cannot positively identify.  On your internet, go to Google and search "Elderberry leaves', under the "images" category.  Make sure what you have has the right leaf…"

"I've got bushes that I think are called Devil's Walking Stick with horrible picky things on the bark of the tree. The berries look just like this though. Are they elderberries or something else?"

Thank you Amy.  This is my first season for growing elderberries, although I have grown veggies, and dwarf fruit trees for a number of years.   I like how the elderberries are coming along.
