help please can someone tell me how to get the juice from the berries do i put water and boil them my first time doing them HELP

   Tonya,   when my wife makes elderberry syrup, she places about a quart of de-stemmed elderberries in a sturdy bowl then presses, (there by crushes) them with a wooden mallet.  Next she adds sugar to the crushed elderberries and brings that mixture to a boil (which melts the sugar).  Then pours the hot mixture into sterile jars for sealing until needed.  Hope that helps!
