elderberry, elderflower, and everything in between
Is it possible to control the height of the elderberry plants? I planted four in the back yard and one of the four gets VERY high - 10-12 feet. I would like to keep it low - say 6 or 7 feet. Is it possible to hedge it during the growing season to control height?

I live in Central Maryland which some people out here call Western Maryland. I live about 15 miles west of Frederick, MD and about 70 miles west of Baltimore. I lived in Houston for 24 years but I managed to escape :-)
I read that elderberry bear off laterals and tips of new shoots so I cut back to some laterals to keep them shorter. I will see what happens. They are a secondary crop for me as my main crop and interest is wine growing. I am growing Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
